PURPOSE STATEMENT

The first order of business was to start the Lawrence Township Industrial Park just south of the Village of Bolivar, between Fort Laurens Road and Strasburg-Bolivar Road. There are currently seventeen (17) businesses in the industrial park. The location of this park is very advantageous because of the close proximity to Interstate 77, which is less than one mile, and the railroad at the edge of the park. Most of the lots were sold within the first several years. The businesses there have done very well at keeping this area clean and well kept. They are proud of this area.

The L.T.C.I.C. is now looking for more land for industrial businesses, and in the process of developing about 80 acres of prime, flat land in Wilkshire Hills for commercial use. This land is within 1 1/2 miles of Interstate 77 located between the villages of Bolivar and Zoar, 15 minutes from Canton, Dover, New Philadelphia, 75 minutes from Cleveland, 2 hours from Columbus, and 90 minutes from Pittsburgh. It is serviced by State Route 212, has all utilities, and is mainly flat terrain. The airports of Akron/Canton, Cleveland, Columbus, and Pittsburgh are in close proximity.

In the Lawrence Township area, you will be within 500 miles of 50(%) percent of the population of the United States. The area presently has a 60-bed hotel, McDonald’s restaurant, Wendy’s restaurant, Georgio’s restaurant, gas station, grocery store, 2 (two) l8-hole golf courses, Veterinary office, Bank, doctor’s office, several Bed & Breakfasts, and many more businesses.

The Lawrence Township Trustees have contracted with the Tuscarawas County Sheriff for additional police protection, and the Bolivar Volunteer Fire Department has one of the best staffed, best trained, and best equipped departments around.

We are in close proximity to many area historical and recreational facilities. Some of these are: Fort Laurens State Park; the Ohio-Erie Canal Park and Walking Trails; Zoar Village State Memorial; Schoenbrunn Village State Park; Pro-Football Hall of Fame; President McKinley National Historic Site; Ernest Warther Museum; Atwood State Park; and the Amish Communities of Holmes County.

We hope that you will locate here with us where the air is cleaner, the pace a little slower, the people much friendlier, and the landscape is more beautiful than anywhere else.

Please contact the L.T.C.I.C. with any inquiries at telephone 330-874-2731, or fax at 330-874-2992, or e-mail ann.ackerman@lawrencetownship.org and someone will be glad to discuss how we can help you and your business.
